FREEDOM STEPS: 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY - AFROHOUSE EDITION

We’ve had a GREAT year, so let’s end it on a strong note, shall we? We’re celebrating TWO YEARS of Freedom Steps dance workshops on Sunday, December 1st!

Rama Mbodj will be gracing us her with her vibes and talent! Based in Montreal, she’s been sharing her passion and expertise asa a dance teacher for children and adults of all levels. Rama has had the honor of performing as an opening act for renowned artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Dadju, Tayc and Rema. She is also the co-founder of Afrohouse MTL, an organization that host dance events such as “Roots Camp Montreal” and charitable events. We’re so excited to learn from her!

ITINERARY:

6:30-8:00PM: AFROHOUSE W/ RAMA

8:00-8:30PM: Cool Down/Discussion*

*At the end of every Freedom Steps class, we have a short, candid chat about the correlation between dance, self love and having autonomy over our bodies. Snacks included!

DRESS CODE: Dress comfortably! But also cute. Because when you look good, you feel feel good and you dance better ;)

The premise of this dance workshop series is to promote confidence, feeling safe in your body and fostering sisterhood. When we started these dance workshops, we simplu aimed to foster community and a safe space for womxn to express themselves through movement and learn from really cool dancers from around the world, and let’s just say WE DID THAT. Thank you to everyone who has been apart of the journey so far!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • Will pictures and videos be taken during the class? YES, pictures and videos will be taken during the class for promotional and marketing purposes.

  • What if I don't want my picture/video taken? That is completely fine! Please just let us know before the class begins, and we will refrain from including you in any of the content taken during the class.

  • Will there be snacks/water? Yes, we will provide water in case you forget your water bottle, and light snacks will be provided during the discussion/cool down. Please let us know if you have any allergies.

  • Why is it women's only? The purpose of this dance workshop is to create a safe space for women to express themselves freely, and to promote self-confidence. Freegxrl Media is a platform dedicated to empowering women to feel themselves authentically.

  • Can I pay at the door? Yes, you can pay at the door.
