Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but the vibes from 613RnB’s love day event are still resonating with us, and it’s been three whole weeks. 613RnB sold out Club SAW for the Valentine’s Day edition of the city’s best intimate musical experience. Everything about this event was intentionally curated, from the décor to the carefully crafted cocktail menu. Now, let’s get into this review.

What is 613RnB?

613RnB is an intimate, curated RnB experience brought to you by the Pieces of Us team. The premise of the event is to champion RnB music and remind folks why the genre is absolutely timeless. The venue doors opened at 8:00 pm, and by 8:30 pm, the place was already filling up with people ready to sing their hearts out and have a good time. My partner and I walked in, and immediately, the energy felt not only welcoming but loving (right on theme). H, one of the vital players of the 613RnB collective, was standing at the entrance, dressed in black, greeting guests, and controlling the flow of entry - all while ensuring everyone walked into the party with smiles on their faces. My partner and I came expecting to have a good time, but what we got was a full-blown experience. I have never seen my partner sing his heart out the way he did.

The Atmosphere: Love, Vibes, and Pure Energy

The energy in the room was unmatched. Resident 613RnB hosts, Jessie Simmons and Lonely Boy, absolutely owned the stage. They live there, okay? They’ve paid their rent IN FULL. We were serenaded by them as we all sang along to classic slow jams, hip-hop, and RnB bops. And the DJ? DJ JAYEL is officially on FGM’s “certified crowd controller” list because they made sure the night flowed SEAMLESSLY alongside Jessie and Lonely Boy. It was truly one of those nights where the music meant something, because folks were vibing and getting lost in the moment.

Hosts & Performers: The Heart of the Night

Now, let’s talk about the little details that made this event stand out. The rose wall, provided by Framed in Florals, made a beautiful statement and gave attendees a chance to snap gorgeous photos and take home lasting memories. And the curated cocktail menu? Brilliant. “Thirst Trap,” “Mixed Signals,” and “Love on The Rocks” all tasted delicious, and the names were so clever, paying homage to the complex facets of love. They also collaborated with Note restaurant, offering ticket buyers 10% off dinner, which was such a thoughtful touch. This allowed couples (and even single folks treating themselves or their friends) to have a full Valentine’s Day experience.

Community Involvement: More Than Just a Party

What really impressed me was the community involvement. 613RnB didn’t just throw a party - they created a space for connection. They partnered with so many local businesses for giveaways, showing real intention behind the event’s curation. Ladies Space Ottawa, Salt of the Earth Body, Rinude, The House of Takeaway and Ottawa Skate and Play were all proud sponsors of the event. The night wasn’t just about good music; it was about celebrating love, Black culture, and Ottawa’s creative community in a way that felt organic and heartfelt.

All in all, I will say that if you weren’t there, you missed out. And if there’s one thing I know, it’s that 613RnB keeps raising the bar. This edition marked 613RnB’s third event, and the next one is already in the works! Follow them on Instagram and subscribe to their mailing list for exclusive news and ticket drops. The event collective also offers an array of creative experiences, which you can check out HERE. This event was a reminder of why RnB is timeless and why art and community bring people together the way that they do.

10/10! No notes.
