“Healing”: A Soulful Anthem About Letting Go and Finding Grace
Oshanna is an RnB songstress from Toronto, Ontario, who’s been paving her way in the music industry since the release of her debut single “Antidote” (2017). The single reached radio airwaves and it’s been nothing but growth since then for the Toronto native. “Healing” is the latest single off of Oshanna’s upcoming EP, and her vulnerability seeps through every lyric as she sings about her healing journey. In "Healing," Oshanna delivers a soulful anthem about pain, growth, and the importance of letting go of what no longer serves us.
Now, let’s get into the review.
“Healing” has an authentic RnB feel that quite frankly feels nostalgic; Oshanna truly channels the spirit of authentic R&B in her music, and of course, adds her own magic to it. The song begins by her saying “I know I should cut you off”, she then continues on to say, “I know what ain’t good for me… I can’t take another loss.” Oshanna’s passionate and heartfelt lyrics resonate deeply, because we all can agree that not letting go of what doesn’t serve us anymore can come back to bite us in the ass. We do not need what isn’t good for us!
The song has a story behind it, and she eventually pulls us into her universe, “I got to do to me. You will not use me. You cannot have your cake to eat, then choose me.” She was not playing with him/her/them, okay?!
The song tells the story of many young women who are going through their healing journeys, and a reminder that it isn’t linear. It’s up, it’s down and it requires grace and patience. But Oshanna speaks on more than just moving on with this song, she emphasizes loving and respecting yourself; she put herself first and said you cannot have your cake and eat it too! And we know that’s right.
“You Cannot Have Your Cake to Eat, Then Choose Me”
Oshanna’s continuously paving her way with plans of conquering the music industry with her authentic sound. Her latest single “Healing” is an ode to those yearning for internal peace, and a reminder to find grace within yourself throughout your healing journey.
