Meet: Jessie Simmons
“For the last 20 years, I’ve been trying to do a lot and I wasn’t ready. God was trying to teach me that. I had to go through certain things to shape me as an artist today. It’s been quite the journey and I’m grateful.”
Jessie Simmons, Singer and Songwriter

Meet: Abby Ayoola-Williams
“What I would like to highlight about the show, is that it’s the first of its kind in Canada; There is nothing like that here. So, because we’re trailblazing, it’s been a little bit hard to market to mainstream Canada, because it’s about Nigerian women living in the diaspora.”
Abby Ayoola-Williams, Creator/Executive Producer of Naija Wives of Toronto

Meet: Kaya Nova
“I really think this space for black women is needed; I grew up reading magazines like “Essence”, but I always felt like there was just a hyper-focus on celebrity culture in black media, and if you weren’t the Beyoncé’s or the Oprah’s, you didn’t feel seen. So, “GROWN” was my way to bridge the gap for the girls fresh out of college who are trying to reach their dreams. I just wanted to hold space for us”
Kaya, Founder of “GROWN Media”
